For generations of Seattle baseball fans, Rick Rizzs has been part of the sound of summer. The Rick Rizzs Holy Smokes 5 Decades on the Radio T-Shirt turns that long broadcasting career into a simple commemorative design built around his familiar voice, personality, and connection with Mariners listeners.

The white shirt places “HOLY SMOKES!” prominently across the front, with an illustrated portrait of Rizzs and the message “Celebrating 5 Decades of Rick Rizzs on the Radio.” Navy and teal keep the artwork closely connected to Seattle baseball without overcrowding the design.

More Than Five Decades Behind the Microphone

Rick Rizzs announced that the 2026 season would be his final year as the Mariners’ primary radio broadcaster. By that point, he had spent 52 seasons broadcasting professional baseball, including 41 seasons with Seattle, making him the longest-tenured broadcaster in Mariners history. MLB.com

His Mariners career began in 1983. After nine seasons in Seattle and three with Detroit, Rizzs returned to the Mariners in 1995 and remained a fixture on the radio broadcast for the rest of his full-time career. MLB.com

The “5 Decades” wording on this shirt therefore works as a broad celebration of a career that stretched across more than half a century of professional baseball rather than describing exactly five decades with the Mariners.

Why “Holy Smokes!” Matters

The phrase became closely associated with the Mariners’ 2026 farewell celebration for Rizzs. The club created a “Holy Smokes” hotline for fans to leave messages and also offered a special “Holy Smokes!” Rick Rizzs T-shirt during his farewell weekend at T-Mobile Park. MLB.com

That gives the headline on this design a clear connection to the way Seattle honored him during his final season.

The supplied product information does not establish that this particular MuseBee shirt is the same T-shirt distributed through the Mariners’ official ticket special, so it is better presented as a Rick Rizzs tribute design rather than official farewell merchandise.

A Simple Broadcast Tribute

The artwork is concentrated on the front rather than spread across the whole garment.

Large navy serif lettering reading “HOLY SMOKES!” forms the top of the composition. Beneath it, a teal portrait of Rizzs becomes the main visual focus, supported by smaller commemorative wording and radio-inspired decorative details.

The white background leaves plenty of negative space around the portrait, giving the shirt more of a commemorative-event feel than a conventional team-logo tee.

A Farewell-Season Keepsake for Mariners Listeners

Rizzs’ final weekend with the Mariners took place September 25–27, 2026, with the club organizing fireworks, a ceremonial first pitch, fan tributes, and a dedicated T-shirt offer. He was also announced for induction into the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2027. MLB.com

That context makes this design particularly relevant for:

• Longtime Mariners radio listeners
• Fans who grew up hearing Rick Rizzs call games
• Seattle baseball collectors
• Farewell-season memorabilia collections
• Gifts for Mariners fans
• Casual game-day or baseball-themed outfits

The shirt focuses on the broadcaster rather than a specific player or season result, making it a tribute to the voice and memories surrounding Mariners baseball across several generations.
